Opportunity: OA High Adventure
Looking for the adventure of a lifetime this summer? Don’t want to break the bank? Sign-up for Order of the Arrow High Adventure (OAHA) today! OAHA provides the opportunity for Arrowmen to attend each of the four high adventure bases at a significantly discounted cost by performing service to the base and then embarking on their own trek. Arrowmen can backpack in the Philmont backcountry, paddle the boundary waters at Northern Tier, snorkel, kayak, and fish in the Florida Keys, and experience all the Summit Bechtel Reserve has to offer, including mountain biking, whitewater rafting and more! These adventures not only provide an action-packed experience like no other, but they also give Arrowmen the opportunity to give back and make an impact through service. The cost for these adventures varies by program but all programs cost between $200-$500. Specific requirements and pricing information can be found at oa-bsa.org/high-adventure.
After having an amazing experience at OA Wilderness Voyage in the Summer of 2019, I personally encourage every youth Arrowman who has the opportunity to attend OAHA to do so. My two weeks in the boundary waters were two of the best weeks of my life. I met some new friends, had many adventures, and made memories that will last for years to come. Today, over a year and a half later, I still remain close friends with the members of my crew. Throughout the experience we learned to trust one another and work together. At times, it was challenging, as paddling and portaging all day can be exhausting work. Knowing that I could count on those in my crew to support me was essential. All of this paddling and portaging was rewarded with the natural beauty of the north woods, that truly cannot be found anywhere else. OA Wilderness Voyage was an experience that changed my life, and I would strongly encourage any and every youth Arrowman to sign-up for OAHA today! Details and registration can be found here. Feel free to reach out to me at chief@oae8.org if you have any questions about OAHA or my experience.
