SR-7B Arrowmen Attend NOAC 2018, Receive Recognition
This August, more than 7,000 arrowmen from across the nation–including hundreds from SR7-B–gathered at Indiana University for the largest scouting event of the year. The National Order of the Arrow Conference was a week filled with training, fellowship and service.
The theme for the event this year was “Decide your Destiny” and almost anywhere you visited or any activity you participated in, you learned about the impacts that you have on your everyday life. Each decision that you make has an impact on your life, as well as other people’s lives. This theme was also reinforced at each of the nightly shows.
Our Section was well represented throughout the week and received many awards in individual competitions. Chandler Steele, a member of Occoneechee Lodge was recognized as the National Champion Grass Dancer. Additionally, Wahissa Lodge’s drum team earned second place nationally. The section had many dancers compete as well as many ceremony teams get evaluated by the national panel of judges. We are very proud of all arrowmen who competed at NOAC this year.
The section also had two Arrowmen recognized with the Distinguished Service Award, the OA’s highest recognition for service to the section and national level. Jeff Sedlacek, former SR7-B Section Chief and 2016 Southern Region Chief, and Talon Parker, also a former SR7-B Section Chief and 2017 National Vice Chief, were recognized with the DSA.
