2020 VC Training

Hey SR7B,

My name is John Sommer and I have the honor and privilege of serving as the VC of Training for SR7B. I am from Raleigh, North Carolina and currently am a sophomore at Campbell University majoring in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.  I am an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor Member from Occoneechee Lodge 104. I have been actively involved in the OA for many years serving as Chapter Chief, Lodge Logistics Chair, and the 2019 Conclave Chairman. I also have served during the last several years as the OA Commissioner during Summer Camp at Camp Durant.

As the Vice-Chief of Training my job is to plan OAX. OAX is the part of Conclave where we bring in different vendors and exhibitors together to show off what they are about, and help scouts have new experiences and learn new skills . This year our theme for OAX is Best of North Carolina. We want to show off what makes North Carolina so special and unique. We are hoping to have over 70 plus vendors at Conclave. Some of exhibits that we have planned are a Cheerwine exhibit with 600 cans of Cheerwine, several cooking demonstrations, disc golf, pick-up sports games, a tie dye booth, Pack Motor Sports, and much more.

I hope that you are all able to attend Conclave this year and have the opportunity to experience OAX. I have enjoyed meeting many of you on Lodge visits and thank you y’all for the hospitality you have shown me on my visits.

Yours in Scouting,
John Sommer
